We will miss you Lillie

Today my dad took Lillie to the vet. She has been really sick. She wasn't acting like herself for the last couple of weeks and she has been hiding out a lot. The vet said she might have cancer and she had something else, but I can't remember what it was. He said they could give her something to help her feel better for a while, but it wouldn't cure her. So, they put her down. My dad brought her home and they buried her in the back yard. She was 12 years old. When we first got her, Lillie was going to be Jessie's cat, but we decided we would share our cats. I will miss her very much. She was a great cat. When she was younger we use to say she was stuck up because she didn't like to be pet, but she later turned into a very cuddly cat. I loved it when she would sleep with me our climb up on my lap and want to be pet. She was also a peebody, because sometime she couldn't control her bladder and she would pee on my bed. That was gross, but I still loved her. We will miss you Lillie!

Ouch!

Since Miley has been walking she has been trying to run. Sometimes she gets a little carried away. Friday, she fell and hit her face on the corner of a shelf/stand. I was so stressed. I kept telling Miles we need to take her to the doctor. The doctor probably would have laughed at us and welcomed us to parenthood. So of course, we didn't take her and luckily the next day it looked so much better. What am I going to do when she falls off her bike or actually gets a worse owie....not that I want that to happen?!

Cupcakes

I recently bought a cake decorating kit so I can decorate Miley's personal 1st birthday cake. My mom and I wanted to try it out and test our skills on cupcakes. All I have to say is move over Ace of Cakes.....my mom and I mean business.
Actually, if I'm going to be decorated Miley's princess cake, I need a ton more practice and better frosting.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. (May 19) We went to Monticello and ate dinner at the Lamp Light. It was so good. We gave Miley all kinds of food from the salad bar. She loved it and made such a big mess. She ate cheese, olives, egg, jello, and crackers. After dinner we went to my parent's house to have cake and ice cream. Miley was so hyper. It was probably because my mom kept giving her coke at dinner. She loves to play and Grandma and Grandpa's house in Monticello. She doesn't go there that often so she was loving the new surroundings. While playing in my mom's room with Miley she got a hold of the phone. She loves to play with phones and push the buttons. We told her to talk on the phone and she put it up to her ear. It was so cute. I've never seen her do that before. Everyday she amazes me more.

We really enjoyed celebrating my mom's birthday with her. I hope she had a great birthday. Happy Birthday Mom!

11 Months Old

Miley is 11 months old today! Were has the time gone? I've been planning her 1st birthday for a while now. At first I though maybe it's a little too soon, but now I'm glad I've been thinking about it because it will be here before I know it. We are also going to Disneyland after her birthday so we have been planning that as well.

This past month Miley has learned to walk. It is so cute watching her walk so carefully without holding on to anything.

The other day at Taco Time, we wanted to see what Miley would do if we gave her our drink. Miles gave Miley his coke. I thought she would just bite on the straw or take the straw from the cup and play with it, but she put it in her mouth and started sucking. She was drinking coke! I made Miles take it away from her because she is too little for coke. Even though she will probably grow up on it because we are a coke drinking family, I didn't want her drinking it now. I gave her some of my watered down sprite. She loved that also. She just keep drinking out of that straw. Funny thing is, she doesn't really like her sippy cup unless we put sprite in it. Silly Miley.

Miley also loves to play peek a boo. She will hide behind something so no one can see her and than peek out and start laugh. She also loves it when we hide and than come out and say peek a boo.

Miley has the cutest personality. It is so cute and fun watching her grow and learn her own likes and dislikes. Sometimes I think she is older than 11 months, she sure acts like it. She can already throw a fit like a two year old when she wants something she can't have. She is so silly.

Miley, You are growing up too fast. We love you!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

I love my mom! She is the best mom anyone could ask for. She is so much fun to be around. Not only is she my mom, but she is my best friend. She is always there for me and she is always willing to help me with anything and everything. I couldn't ask for a better grandma for Miley either. Happy Mother's Day, Mom. I love you!

Happy Mother's Day!

Dear Miley,

I'm so happy and blessed to be your Mom. Friday we went to Sandra Dawn's Photography to get a family picture done. It turned out so good, I can't stop looking at it. We will also give your grandma's the same picture. I hope they love it as much as we do.

Saturday, you and daddy went to the store to make me a cake, which turned out so good. I can't wait to eat it!

Sunday (Mother's Day) when you woke up, you woke up your dad so I could sleep in. Than you and daddy went and make me french toast and scrambled eggs while I continued to sleep. It felt so good to sleep in and have breakfast ready when I got up.

The card you got me was so cute. It said, " To a smart, funny, extremely pretty lady.....From your little carbon copy! Happy Mother's Day."

We also had your Grandma and Grandpa Cannon, Grandma and Grandpa Harrison, your brother Mike, your cousin Colton and your Aunt Sharla over for dinner. This was our third annual Mother's Day dinner. We had streak, shrimp, dutch oven potatoes, pasta salad, bread, cake and ice cream for dinner. It was really yummy. You entertained us all night and kept us laughing.

I'm so thankful to be your mom. I love you Miley. You are the sweetest girl! Thank you for a great Mother's day. I love you!

Love,
Your Mommy

Flashback Friday : Miley's laughing party

According to Navajo (or Dine) tradition, a baby is considered to be of two worlds at birth: that of the holy people and that of the earth people. As weeks pass, adults wait and listen for the child's first chuckle - a sign of joy that signals his/her desire to join his earth family and community. In Navajo culture, it is believed that a child assumes the qualities of the person who witnesses, or coaxes, his/her first giggle. To commemorate this event, the laugh witness hosts a A'wee Chi'deedioh ("The Baby Laughed") ceremony.

I personally was not planning on having this party for Miley. I have a friend who does belive and has done this for all her kids ask me if I believed or was planning on having a laughing party for Miley when she laughed. I told her she didn't have to worry if she made Miley laugh because I wasn't going to have a laughing party.

On September 30 , 2008, I went to pick Miley up at Grandma Harrison's house after work. I put her in her car seat so we could get ready to go and I was talking to her and all of a sudden she laughed at me. I looked at Beverly in suprise, and thought "did I just hear her laugh for the first time?". Her laugh was so cute!

Beverly than told me I have to throw a laughing party now and she has been trying to get Miley to laugh for days.

I didn't know if Beverly was serious because she isn't Navajo, so I asked Miles about it and he called his mom and asked her about it because I don't know anything about throwing this party. We than found out from Grandpa Harrison, who is Navajo, that its mainly just a get together with lots of food.

We went to Farmington that Friday so we could get Miley a cake and a present. We got Miley a Baby Einsten's activity center and a huge cake from Sam's Club.

That Saturday, October 4, we had her party at our house. We had hamburgers, salads, cake, cupcakes and ice cream. It was a lot of fun. We had a lot of family over. Miley really did enjoy her party and so did everyone else. I'm glad I did thow her a laughing party and I'm glad I was the first one to make her laugh.

Go Night Night

Miley is so funny! Miley will be playing and we will tell her to 'go night night' or 'go take a nap', and she will stop what she is doing and lay her head down to rest and usually get in her sleeping position. She will also go to her blanket that is on the ground (where she takes her naps) and lay down there. She also does that a lot when she is getting tired, but she doesn't just lay there and fall asleep, except for the other day. She laid down under the coffee table and I keep waiting for her to poke her head back up and start playing but she didn't. We both took a long nap. It was so nice.

Of course she doesn't go night night when told when it's time to go to bed. That would be too easy.

Miley's first ice cream cone!

Today we took Miley to Patio for lunch. Miley had her first ice cream cone. She really enjoyed it. She even wanted more after she finished her cone. So I had to share mine with her.
We than went to the baseball games, but we couldn't stay long because it started to rain and get windy. Lately every Saturday we seem to have bad weather.

Flashback Friday

Since Miley's first birthday is coming upon us way too fast, I decided to do Flashback Fridays to remember things I wish I blogged about...but it was before I had a blog.

On June 17, 2008, at 39 weeks pregnant I was induced to have Miley because I have developed preeclampsia.

That morning we were to be there at 8:30 a.m. I was too excited/nervous to eat my breakfast, so I made a picture of my mom in my oatmeal.
We than arrived to the San Juan Hospital and got settled in. They started Pitosin on me around 10:00 am - 10:30 am. At first I was just enjoying making jokes about the IV's in me (Tubey Tubey) and watching TV. Than I started feeling the pain. I knew I was going to want an epidural, but I wanted it fast! After the epidural I was feeling good. I was eating Popsicles and jello and drinking juice. Feeling like a champ, than the pain was slowly returning. They told me I might feel a little pain and to push the button on the epidural thing when I needed relief. I was pushing that stupid button every half second. It wasn't working. After long, I was feeling everything. It hurt so bad. The stupid epidural wore off on me. They did give me stadol to help with the pain and it did. I felt loopy. I couldn't keep my eyes open and I wanted to take a nap. I wasn't really sure what was going on around me. I remember Dr. Black walking in and saying, "It's good your getting rest". I figured I still had a while, but they were in a hurry and stripping my bed. Than Dr. Black told me I could start pushing during my next contraction. That was a shock to me. I thought I still had forever. After 30 minutes of pushing and half time of the NBA championship (Los Angeles Lakers (92) vs. Boston Celtics (131), at 8:35 p.m. Miley Tiara Harrison was born. Everything after that was kind of a blur to me. They cleaned her up, warmed her up, weighed and measured her (5 lbs. 14 oz and 18 1/2 inches) and than I was holding her. My mom and dad went to eat pizza. My mom thought she would be back before I delivered so when she walked in she was talking to my aunt on the phone telling her they must have gave me more pain medicine because I was smiling. Than she notice I was holding a baby and quickly hung up the phone and rushed into the room. Dr. Black is a great doctor. I'm glad I went to him through my pregnancy. It sure was a great day!
